Chief Executive of Physics Partners

To mastermind the next stage in our development as an expert and rapidly expanding educational charity supporting Physics teaching in state schools.

0.6 FTE from April 2019

Salary: £25,000 to £30,000 (£42,000 to £50,000 FTE)

Location: Flexible, UK

Interested in a challenging part-time role with national influence and an opportunity to make a difference in education? Physics Partners is an expanding educational charity looking for a dynamic and strategic Chief Executive.

We believe that all children should have the teaching they need to achieve their scientific potential. We help achieve this aim by giving expert help to non-specialist and newly-qualified teachers in state schools, with a special interest in helping areas of disadvantage.

From a small base, we now support 170 schools and thousands of pupils, using our own trainers and working alongside the Institute of Physics and a network of partnerships. The need for our help is more urgent than ever, and we are now looking for a strategic and energetic Chief Executive to mastermind the next stage in our development. Knowledge of physics is desirable but not essential: the key requirements are the intellectual and personal skills to run a successful and expanding charity, together with a strong commitment to the aims of the Physics Partners and the ability to form strong networking relationships with other organisations active in the sector. Fundraising experience would be an advantage.

You will be supported by a network of regional Ambassadors and have administrative and website support. Location is flexible, including the possibility of working from home. Trustee meetings are usually held in London. Starting date: ideally April 2019 (a September start could be considered for the right candidate).
